From 2010-11 I chose to delve further into the relationship between the logical, systematically describable world and the natural world. Specifically, I have been closely investigating ways that science seeks to understand the individual through information technology such as genome sequencing. Through my practice of combining computer programming with digital fabrication techniques, I have developed techniques to represent genome data as sculptural forms.

Through this body of work, I am providing the viewer with an alternative way of viewing genetic data made physical in a humorous and playful context. By using various bird species as a foil for human differences, it is my hope that the viewer will contemplate information technology’s growing role in society.
